ResAlliance final Policy Forum-enhancing resilience in Mediterranean landscapes

The ResAlliance consortium is pleased to invite policymakers, public authorities, researchers, and stakeholders from across the Mediterranean to the Final Policy Forum.

This high-level forum marks the culmination of three years of collaborative work to strengthen resilience in Mediterranean landscapes. It will highlight practical, field-tested solutions and explore how they can be translated into concrete policy frameworks and targeted support mechanisms..

Forum objectives

The Policy Forum will:

  • Showcase how policies and partnerships can be designed to support resilient land-use systems, rural communities, and Mediterranean ecosystems.
  • Present the Policy Paper – A Resilient Future for Mediterranean Landscapes, distilling recommendations drawn from the practices disseminated through ResAlliance.
  • Provide a platform for dialogue between governments, public authorities, and the European Commission, focusing on strategies to address challenges such as desertification, drought, floods, wildfires, biodiversity loss, and pest outbreaks.

Agenda highlights

Welcome & Introduction – Overview of ResAlliance and its achievements (Eduard Mauri, European Forest Institute – Mediterranean Facility).

Presentation of the Policy Paper – Actionable recommendations structured under four key themes:

  • One Mediterranean Basin, multiple landscapes: frameworks across diverse contexts
  • Sustainable cultural land management & Nature-based Solutions
  • Scaling up traditional knowledge & innovation for resilience
  • Policies & partnerships for resilience financing

Panel Discussion – Insights from Mediterranean governments and the European Commission on applying these recommendations.
